The Interestingness of Flickr

NYC scene

In just a few days, this picture (that I took in NYC just a week ago and uploaded to Flickr last Friday) has become the most interesting picture out of my 1.700 pictures, according to Flickr’s interestingness. The algorithm apparently works by looking at how many people comment/favorite a picture – I suspect the number of times a picture has been viewed isn’t that important.

There’s an old thread (now closed) over at Flickr’s forums that points out a few strange behaviours regarding the way the algorithm works (or doesn’t work).

Hi and welcome to my online bricolage. Here I’ll go on about anything from music to software and photography. It is essentially an online addition of sorts to my own personal diary.
