Thoughts on New York

Back home in Stockholm after an intense week in New York. Some first thoughts:

weather was incredible, with an average 25-28° Celsius every day – appropriately, when I was heading for the airport there was a very light drizzle.

A measly week is never enough, but can also be just about as much as one can take…

Village Yokocho is totally the closest I’ve ever come to a real life Bladerunner-esque experience. Korean pancakes to die for.

Some incredible speakers at this year’s Search Marketing Expo.

Until January 12, 2014, a wonderful exhibition on Magritte can be had at MoMA. Insightful to one of the 2oth century masters.

Another master on display – Chagall at the Jewish Museum.

Since I last visited the High Line, it has been expanded to reach all the way up to 30th Street. Perfect to walk all the way down to 14th on a beautiful October day.

Orrin Evans and the Captain Black Big Band gave an out-of-this-world performance at Dizzy’s, part of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Inspiring:

  • a visit to the official Armani store on Madison Avenue
  • the Burger joint behind the curtain at the luxurious Le Parker Meridien Hotel
  • East Village’s Veselka is always worth a visit, no matter what time it is (they’re open 24/7)
  • holding the gold iPhone 5s in my hand convinced me that its color is absolutely sublime
  • hanging out with friends at seedy places at 4 in the morning
