House of Cards

“Pioneering perfection”, “Excellent”, “Breathtakingly good show”, “Great, great, great”, “Incredible. Exceeded my expectations”. (IMDb user reviews)

The entire season 1 of House of Cards was premiered on Netflix February 1, 2013. Reports on the 100 million dollars plus budget has been all over the place. After having watched the first few episodes, I can only add myself to the group of devoted fans.

This is the future, streaming is the future. TV will not be TV in five years from now…everyone will be streaming.

 — Beau Willimon

Not only does the packaging, or rather, the method of delivery, feels refreshing, but it’s obvious and right on – let me watch an episode once a day if I want to, or let me devour the entire thing in a weekend. Or as one IMDb reviewer puts it, “it frees up significant time during episodes because it makes things like flashbacks or repeats of events almost completely redundant.”

It’s this freedom combined with an absolutely stellar production that makes it feel so refreshing. I can’t find any better reason for becoming a Netflix subscriber than House of Cards. It’s that good.
