Art, race and a 120 year old photo

German Michael Beutler is guest artist at the Bonniers Konsthall in Stockholm this spring. “In conjunction with the new works, Bonniers Konsthall presents a selection of Beutler’s earlier pieces; hand-built machines that are both art makers and artworks in themselves.”

A rare photograph of a young Helen Keller has been discovered nearly 120 years after it was taken on Cape Cod.

The photograph, shot in July 1888 in Brewster, shows an 8-year-old Helen sitting outside in a light-colored dress, holding Sullivan’s hand and cradling one of her beloved dolls.
