Some of the highlights of my 4 weeks in New York: the Faure Quartet playing Mahler; taking the dog for walks just like any New Yorker; hearing Kathleen Battle sing negro spirituals; Penny Arcade’s book release; hanging out in Williamsburg; the spectacular view from a penthouse apartment on Upper East Side; all the chai tea lattes; the beauty found in a street in SoHo drenched in sunlight just after hours of heavy rain; hearing Mutter play Brahms at Carnegie Hall; attending a by-invitation-only party arranged by Patricia Field; dinner at a friend’s place etc, etc – – –
