Over the last few days, Wolfram Alpha has really been getting a lot of attention all over the web. Doing simple searches with the help of Google is something everyone’s pretty used to by now, so what’s the catch with this new search engine?
At first glance, it might not be overly impressive, but go through the suggested searches, try out the “Examples by Topic” and the potential power is revealed. Once you realize you can find the weather for New York on May 20, 1985, or information on traffic congestion for Chicago, it’s quite an amazing feeling.
The goal is “to make all systematic knowledge immediately computable and accessible to everyone”. This really could be a game changer. If you haven’t paid them a visit yet, head to their website and give it a try.
