The sound of an orchestra

Seems like I’m not the only one enjoying the Concertgebouw Orchestra – three weeks ago I heard them on their home turf in a program of Strauss and Mahler with conductor Mariss Jansons, and now they’re getting very nice reviews doing the same program in the States – the NYT admires their “uncommonly velvety strings” (Strauss), while Ionarts liked its “subtlety and transparency” (Mahler).

New York Times: An Orchestra Sounding Like Itself Again.

Ionarts: Concertgebouw Returns, This Time with Mahler.
